Warmcel Insulation

: WARMCEL is a non-hazardous material, manufactured from 100% recycled newspaper, that acts as an incredibly effective insulation. Unlike most other insulation Warmcel doesn’t have to be cut to fit but is sprayed or injected into place. This means that irregular panels and voids are completely filled. Where most insulation has to be placed behind or in front of cables and pipes in panels, Warmcel flows behind, in front and in between to form a perfect fit, leaving no gaps for warmth or sound to pass through. This system of insulation, introduced by our fully trained and highly experienced installers, ensures a very high performance insulation that will keep your heating costs to manageable if not minimal levels. BBA-approved, Warmcel is extremely resistant to fire through the addition of simple inorganic salts. A layer of Warmcel placed on your hand can be heated to 1000º C on top without even warming your hand. This shows not only its fire resistance but its ability to slow heat from passing through: giving your house superior protection against heat loss and fire spread. Through rigorous testing Warmcel has been proved to give beneficially high levels of sound insulation through party and partition walls. The added benefits are the true sustainability and environmentally friendly aspects of Warmcel. It is free from harmful or toxic substances, including VOCs, CFCs or added formaldehyde. Warmcel is resistant to biological and fungal attack, is treated against insects and is unattractive to vermin. WARMCEL – SUPERIOR FIRE RESISTANCE Warmcel, through the addition of naturally occurring inorganic salts, has fantastic fire resistance and meets the criteria needed to pass fire tests for building regulations. The blow torch test demonstrates Warmcel’s extraordinary fire resistance. Under the fierce flame of a blow torch a coin is reduced to a molten blob on a pad of Warmcel resting on a naked hand. The Warmcel fails to ignite and the hand remains unharmed: properties that offer your house superior fire protection. WARMCEL – SOUND INSULATION Warmcel also provides excellent and efficient sound reduction – in party walls between houses – in partition walls between bathrooms and bedrooms – between hotel bedrooms. Testing with the sound research laboratories in different applications has shown up to 25% improvement in sound reduction over current Building Regulations Standards. WARMCEL - INSTALLATION TECHNIQUES External Walls:. Walls up to 150mm in depth can be damp sprayed. When all the first fix electrics and plumbing are fitted within the wall the Warmcel is then sprayed onto the open faced studwork with the addition of a small amount of water. Excess Warmcel is scrubbed off with a rotary scrubber, leaving the surface flush with the face of the studwork. Any surplus Warmcel is fed back through the machine. External Walls:. Walls over 150mm in depth are dry injected behind a retaining board such as Paneline or plasterboard. 106mm access holes are drilled at the top of the void to be filled; a 2 port nozzle is then inserted into the holes and the Warmcel is injected into the void. The air displaced by the injected Warmcel is released through the second port in the nozzle. Through settings and sensors on the machine the void is filled completely. The hole in paneline is then plugged and sealed with a sticker or the cut out of plasterboard is fixed back with special clips. Partition and Party Walls for Sound Insulation:. These are generally boarded on one side and then damp sprayed in the same way as external walls. If over 150mm depth these walls are injected through retaining board as above. Floors and Lofts:. When access is available from above floors and lofts, ie no boards cover the surface, then the Warmcel can be open blown from above and either levelled off to the surface of the joists or to the required depth. When the floor or loft area is closed, ie boarded both on sides, the Warmcel is then injected through holes similar to deep wall application. Sloping Ceilings:. The Warmcel is dry injected into sloping ceilings either through drilled access holes or from the top section of a ceiling run where a 400mm width of plasterboard has been left off. This top section is scrimmed and injected before the plasterboard is fixed into place. For further and more detailed information please download the Warmcel Brocher PDF above.
